Support
Get to Market Quickly — With the Right Equipment, the Right Training, and Support That Never Goes Away
DDM Novastar has been helping PCB engineers and manufacturers get from idea to assembly line since 1982. Here's how we make that happen, faster and with fewer surprises.
PRE-SALE
Application Guidance That Starts With Your Situation
There is no shortage of SMT and Through-hole PCBA equipment options. What's harder to find is someone who will talk through your actual application before pointing you at a product page.
At DDM, every sales conversation starts with questions, not specs. What are you building? How many boards per run? What's the component mix? How much floor space do you have? Are you setting up for prototyping, pilot manufacturing, or ongoing low-to-medium volume production?
The answers to those questions determine which equipment fits your situation and which doesn't. We'd rather help you find the correct solution than sell you the wrong one.
With over 30,000 systems installed across contract manufacturing, R&D, aerospace, industrial controls, medical devices, universities, and more, we've seen a lot of applications. Chances are we've helped someone solve a problem very similar to yours.

TRAINING
Training That Gets Your Team Running, Not Just Familiar
A machine sitting in your facility isn't productive until your team knows how to run it confidently. DDM's standard practice is to have a service engineer complete equipment setup and conduct hands-on training at your facility, using your actual boards and components in your actual production environment. When the engineer leaves, your operators are trained on your real process, not a generic one.
On-Site Training at Your Facility
This is where training begins for most DDM customers. A DDM service engineer installs and configures your equipment, then trains your team on site. You use your own boards, your own components, and your own workflow. When training wraps up, you're running, not reading a manual.
DDM Technical Workshops
DDM hosts free Paste-Place-Reflow Technical Workshops at our Ivyland, PA facility typically once or twice a year. These are ideal for:
- Engineers or buyers evaluating equipment before placing an order
- New hires who weren't present for initial startup training
- Operators looking to sharpen their process knowledge or add capability
- Teams setting up a new line who want to see the full product range in one place
Workshops include hands-on equipment demonstrations, a guided tour of DDM's manufacturing facility, and direct access to DDM engineers. Attendance is free.
One-on-One Scheduling
Individual training sessions can be scheduled at your convenience, calibrated to your team's starting point. Whether you're new to SMT assembly or an experienced operator learning a new system, training is built around where you are and what you need.
AFTER THE SALE
Support for the Life of Your Machine, Not Just the Warranty
Most companies are good at support right after a sale. DDM Novastar is good at it for decades after the sale. That's not marketing. It's policy, and it's been our policy since 1983.
Spare Parts
DDM maintains spare parts inventory for every machine we’ve built since 1983. If you're running a machine we made 15 years ago and need a part today, we have it. The real cost of downtime on a production line is measured in missed commitments, not just repair bills.
Technical Support
When you call us, you’ll talk to a real person with real product knowledge. Our technical support team has over 100 years of PCB assembly experience. There is no ticketing system between you and a knowledgeable answer.
Field Service
When a problem needs a technician on-site, DDM coordinates field service directly through our Ivyland headquarters. Same team, same knowledge base, same accountability.
"You can't kill those machines. They just keep on running. And with the variety and complexity of PCBs and thru-hole mixed with surface mount components, it's critical to have machines that can handle it." — DDM Customer
"Our 20-year-old pick and place machine still performs reliably. When we need service or parts for it, we call DDM and can always count on expert, friendly help." — DDM Customer
WHO WE SERVE
Built for the Way You Actually Work
DDM Novastar specializes in low-to-medium volume, high-mix PCB assembly, the environment where you're building a wide variety of board types, often in smaller quantities, and where flexibility and reliability matter more than raw throughput speed.
Our customers include:
- R&D and product development teams building prototypes and iterating quickly
- Small and mid-size OEMs bringing assembly in-house
- Contract manufacturers serving specialized markets
- University engineering programs training the next generation of PCB engineers
- Aerospace, industrial, and specialty electronics manufacturers requiring US-made, US-supported equipment
Whatever your application, the conversation starts the same way: tell us what you're building. We'll take it from there.
